Mentors and role models can make a huge difference in helping more women and girls see themselves in tech! There are a lot of opportunities to help in big and small ways.
As the saying goes, charity begins at home. Consider volunteering for us at a commitment level that works for you.
If you don’t see the right fit now, please check back as we will update this page with the latest opportunities. If you have an outreach opportunity to share, contact Kim Wilkens (email@example.com) with the details.
Girl Develop It
Girl Develop It is a nonprofit organization that exists to provide affordable and judgment-free opportunities for adult women interested in learning web and software development. They are looking for new teachers, TAs and volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved in your local chapter of Girl Develop It, contact Kathryn Wagner (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Elise Kain (email@example.com).
UVA Women in Computing (WiCS)
WiCS is a network of women at UVA thinking about careers in a tech-related field. They would like to pair third and fourth years with a CWIT member in a computing profession. Signing up for mentorship would be a commitment of at least 3 mentor/mentee meetings per semester. Contact Sofia Shalotenko (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more info.
